2. The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

The Handmaid’s Tale is fast becoming an uncomfortably prophetic book, and is most definitely a classic. The basis of the HULU series of the same name, which follows the book very closely right up to the last paragraph (spoken verbatim by Offred in the last minutes of the show).
